Last year I was approached by the NFB to film a poetry reading by Jordan Scott. The concept was to film a live audience observe Jordan’s poetry reading without they’re knowledge. Through 1 hidden we were able to observe how the audience reacted to Jordan’s unique poetry reading, something that may be unattainable with a visible camera.

I spent last weekend up North relaxing at a cottage. While the fire was burning I set up the 7D for a quick starlapse.

COCO ROCHA SHOOT

A little while back I shot a segment with Canada’s favorite super model COCO ROCHA.
The client, SELL ME OUT was on board to film the photo shoot for FLARE MAGAZINE. I’ve been working closely with SELL ME OUT on a documentary titled “The Litter Guy”. I’ll post more on that as it comes along.

Shot with Panasonic HPX-170 (great camera but can’t get over the low-res lcd)

New York hotel window from claudio manni on Vimeo.

Rummaging through my hard drive I came across this time lapse I shot through a hotel room window in New York. I was there filming NY Fashion Week for a show I used to dp called Inside Fashion (hi-light of that show had to be filming a segment I shot at the Playboy Mansion). This was my second attempt at the time lapse because someone turned a lamp on in the room in the morning. The reflection off the glass made it unusable. Oh well.

Astral Lapse

While filming an upcoming reality tv series in the middle of the woods, I managed to sneak in some time to set up the 7D to record a still frame timelapse of the clear starry sky. It’s something you don’t get to see too often living downtown Toronto.

There was a total of 300 pics taken, each exposed for 28 seconds and stitched together using Quicktime’s image sequence. Exported in FCP with a slight touch of color to bring out the white in the stars.

Cottage Cheese anyone?

This little test was done almost a year ago when I asked a friend of mine to borrow his 5D Mk2.  This was when the camera just started to gain all of the attention for having an unbelievable hd image.  Just for fun I asked my brother to put together one of my favorite recipes and put the camera to the test.  I have to say my favorite thing about using the 5D was the the ability to grab a narrower depth of field or a beautiful wide shot with just a simple switch of the lens.
